Cruise Mar 7 & 8

Mar. 7th: We flew from Oxnard to Miami and spent the night at the Embassy Suites.

Leaving Oxnard Seabridge from the Air

Mar. 8th: The day started with breakfast at the hotel. The limo picked us up and we had a quick 25 minute ride to the cruise terminal. We breezed through the check in process and headed to our inside room on the Promenade deck (P240). After unpacking we hit the buffet for the first of many meals and toured the ship. There are a lot of pools onboard and we picked out the spot we would try to do our sun bathing at. The sail away was impressive. The residents of Ft Lauderdale come out of their homes and apartments and wave us off, some flying Princess Flags. The Goodyear blimp flew over to send us off. Several ships were in dock and we left 1 by 1. All in all this was the best send off we have experienced.

One problem we had was that our dining preference was messed up. We discovered that a lot of folks had the same problem. We met with the Matre'd and got that straightened out but unfortunately not everyone else did so at our first dinner we were missing part of our table mates. After dinner we got a pleasant surprise. A message greeted us in our stateroom informing us that we were being upgraded to a balcony room. Kathy worked with the stewards to move us up to the Riviera Deck 14 and our new room R520. While she was doing that I played in the Poker Tournament. I got knocked out mid tournament, although I had several good hands, as is always my luck, the winner sat to my left and was always luckier. For example my first hand was pocket queens. He stayed in with a 6 & 8 unsuited (a fold any day). He managed to pair both before the end and I took my first big hit on chips. Oh well, Kathy and I enjoyed another walk of the ship checking out the shops and sampling some of the smaller groups providing entertainment before retiring for the evening.

I drove my car into the ground (literally)
I have always told anyone that harrassed me about driving an old car that I like to drive them into the ground.  Well yesterday I proved it.  I turned the corner in front of work and the front end broke and literallt drove into the ground (pavement).  Brian was driving by and whipped out his iPhone to document my truth telling.
Keep the Memories
Thise of you that know us know we love to play games.  Board games, card games, any kind of games.  You also know that we usually keep  our score sheets in our boxes with the games.  Then every time you open the box good memories of fun are triggered and over time we all win some and lose some and we can always find one to brag over.  It's amazing to me how the kids can remember a certain game and the conversations around it from 10 or 15 years ago.

Well we seemed to have passed this practice along.  Today, I got a delightful message from our friend Paul who let us know that because of the tropical storm they found themselves stuck in the house and decided to play a game.  They played the Game of Life and he said that in the box they found the scoresheet of the last time they had played, and wouldn't you know it we were there.  This old game had happened when our kids were still teenagers.  And as always fun memories were triggered.

So here's my advice to you.  Save those scoresheets and put them in you r game boxes.  Sometimes we even add a note or two to ours.  Then someday down the road expect a pleasant surprise and noce thoughts of times gone by.
The New Battery operated Mower
I love shopping on Woot and when they had the deal on this I just had to have one.  Not only does it look Kewl.  It is quiet and battery operated.  Here's Kathy giving it it's innagural run!

Kathy's Hibiscus....   Enjoy
Baseball Fever – Matt’s Game

Day 3 of our vacation was staining a deck then fighting the miserable traffic to go to Harrisburg to enjoy a great game of baseball. Matt pitched as his team took on the #1 team in the league. His team won defeating #1 by a score of 5 to 3. Matt pitched into the 6th inning when a fresh arm was brought in to finish the game. After the game we took Matt and his roommates (Mel, Ufi, Brandon) and friend, Josh, out to dinner to Hooters for lots of food and fun. Here's a couple pics of the day:

Morro Bay Road Trip

Kathy and I decided it was time to give the Gold Wing a good ride an given that I had the week off we decided to head up the coast to Morro Bay. I'll blog some more later, But I thought I'd share a couple shots. We had aa fantastic lunch on the wharf at Harbor Hut. I had the best Squid ever! Kathy had their fantastic Clam Chowder along with some fish, also excellent. For dinner we went to the legendary Taco Temple which was just a couple blocks from the Motel. This was also a great meal.
